CPTED inspections play an important role in crime prevention on rental property. For information on having a CPTED inspection for your rental property and how you can get certified as a Crime Free Rental Property please contact the Yakima Police Department .

Here are some basics:
CPTED, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, is a term meant to capture the idea of creating a location, typically a living area, that is designed such that it’s physical layout is a deterrent to crimes taking place there .

CPTED was coined originally back in 1971 by Florida State University criminologist C. Ray Jeffery, and further established by architect Arthur Newman. The theories in this area first appeared in the 1960’s with numerous texts published about the concept. More and more studies have been published, paving the way for numerous international organizations based in this interest, and the formation of certain standards for certification in the area of CPTED.

We will expand info on this subject substantially including details about CPTD inspection and certification as a “Crime Free Rental Property”
