On Wednesday morning, June 2 the Yakima Police Department held its seventh annual Cop-On-Top.
This is event is a Special Olympics Washington fundraising event held as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, (LETR), an international law enforcement effort intended to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics.

Over the last six (7) years this event has raised over $ 21,000.00!!!!
 
The Top Foods management and staff have been and continue to be strong supporters of this effort. 

Additionally, a team of Law Enforcement Torch Run runners left YPD on Tuesday afternoon, June 1 headed for the eastern border of Washington State.

They began a cross-state run, assisted by runners from Kennewick PD, on Wednesday morning.  That run ended at the location of the Special Olympics Washington Summer Games at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Pierce County Washington.
 On Friday the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Summer Games took  place with competitions running through the weekend
